Football season is over now and the coaches are finally resting mentally and physically. Unfortunately, they only have a few weeks to rest. They all seem less tense, they laugh and they look awake. They get to sit down and eat a normal lunch without watching film or talking about the next game. They only have until the end of November because beginning in December they have to get back to business. They have to review every single film and get the best plays to make a DVD called a High-Light Film. It takes a while. After they finish with that project then they have to get ready for spring football. They need to start on off season workouts, award ceremony, post game, Camps and the All Star Game.
It is a year long job, hard, but fun if you like coaching.

Baker No Longer a Joke
An unbelievable game Baker had Friday night against North Fort Myers High School. The final game of the season was very intense during all four quarters. This game was to decide if Baker ended with winning season. Baker led 14-6 by the end of the third quarter until the Red Knights scored a touch down and a two-point conversion changing the score to 14-14. Baker had a final touch down late in the fourth quarter and won 21-18.
North Fort Myers High School has always-beaten Baker since their first ever varsity season in 2005. One of the reasons was because the Red Knights had a star running back Noel Devine who left last year to play for West Virginia.
It was a great ending to a great season for the baker football program. Coaches and players had been mentally preparing all week long for this game, and apparently it paid off. Baker fans jumped the fence and ran to the field to celebrate their win. Players (seniors) were crying telling the coaches, “we did it Coach, we won.”
Once they hit the locker room coaches were so excited that two players poured the iced water cooler on top of one of the coaches.

Bulldogs batter Manta Rays
The Baker Varsity Football team is back on a win streak after their 56-0 victory over Lemon Bay last Friday. Baker gained 360 yards on the ground with the help of Sophomore Joseph Byrd. Baker went ahead 14-0 in the closing moments of the 1st quarter, and Baker trailed 35-0 going into halftime. The Bulldog defense was alive during the entire game led by Brian Franklin, and held Lemon Bay to zero yards. Solid offensive line play and tough running by Joseph Byrd and Senior Jasmine Skinner sealed the victory for the Bulldogs. Congratulations Bulldogs!!
After the game ended, Baker’s locker room was very loud. The players and coaches were excited of how well they played. Players Picked Brian Conn up (the Head Coach) and carried him around the room shouting, “This win was for you coach.”
However, They can’t celebrate for long because next week is homecoming week for the Mariner Tritons as well as the biggest game of the season as your (5-3) Bulldogs take on the (5-2) Tritons over at Tritons Stadium.

Lightning Saves Baker High
Fortunately lightning stopped Cape Coral High School from defeating Ida Baker. The officials stopped the game in the third quarter, when the Seahawks were up 30-0.
Cape was stopped from a potential victory by nature. This game was going to determine the best 4-1 team of Cape Coral.
The game will continue where it left off, Monday at 6pm. The Seahawks did not seem very happy with the decision but they had no choice.

Baker is back in the winning zone!
The dogs proved themselves one more time after beating Gateway charter 42-0 last week. I mentioned last week that this game could go either way, but the dogs really danced around Gateway.
Baker is now 4-1 and they are getting ready for next week’s game against Cape Coral High School. Cape High will play very hard against Baker. Cape improved its record to 4-1 after defeating Dunbar High School.
Baker is getting so much confidence and momentum game after game that you can even feel it in the locker room and practices.
It has been three years of losing pains. Coaches are very excited with Baker’s performance and all you hear after each game is “ About time, about time. We are not the old dogs we used to be”

Baker falters in fourth game of the season (3-1) by max
The Dogs underestimated Fort Myers High School last Thursday.
Players and coaches were confident about winning. They watched film over and over, day after day, stating, “We got this game.”
Unfortunately, it did not happen that way. They were defeated 43-7 and were left with a record of 3-1. The next day, players were very upset and talked very little about the game.
They failed to keep their undefeated record. Last week, my blog’s title was “Is it luck or talent?” It is too early to know, but time will tell.
Baker High School has many important games coming up and one of them is against Gateway Charter School, which will be a pretty fair match. Both teams are young and the game could go either way.

Is it luck or talent?(MI)
The undefeated Bulldogs gained a new record of 3-0 Friday night after they beat Estero High School, also known as the Wildcats.
The Bulldogs were not worried at all. Coaches were confident last week during football meetings and practices, as they knew that Estero High School had a record of 0-2.
Coaches and players guaranteed a win last week when talking to peers.
Estero High School has always been ranked in the top five in the district. However, the Wildcats have not been the same after South Fort Myers High School opened two years ago. Most of the talent Estero High School counted on has moved to South Fort Myers to be part of the Wolfpacks.
The challenge will come next week when the Bulldogs have to play Fort Myers High School. Baker High School is going to have to practice ten times harder in order to have a winning chance next week.
Fort Myers High School is not an easy team to beat. They have years of experience, talent and confidence. I believe if Baker High School works hard and limits its mistakes, they will have a chance to win and break a new record.

Who let the dogs out?
When it came to football, Ida S. Baker High School, also known as the Bulldogs, has been the laughing stock of many high school teams for the past three years.
In 2006, they had a final record of 0-10, vanishing any hope for a respectable place in their division. Almost every team knew that they did not have to worry about much competition when it came to the Bulldogs. Moreover, a quick defeat was certain every time Baker High School was mentioned. By now, two teams had already under estimated them.
East Lee and Riverdale High School thought that they were going to beat the Bulldogs. However, the evenings of these opponents were ruined, especially those nights when Baker annihilated East Lee High School and Riverdale High School. The final score was 42-0 against East Lee High School and 31-14 against Riverdale High School. Furthermore, 2-0 is a very good record to start the season with.
The coaches of Baker High School have been very patient in the past years. It is now that they are seeing the results of their hard work and dedication.
Baker High School has a tough schedule coming up. They have eight more games left. Hopefully, other teams realize that Baker High School has matured and that it counts with 12 seniors in the team.
They will not be easily beat this year and they will leave a print.
