An unbelievable game Baker had Friday night against North Fort Myers High School. The final game of the season was very intense during all four quarters. This game was to decide if Baker ended with winning season. Baker led 14-6 by the end of the third quarter until the Red Knights scored a touch down and a two-point conversion changing the score to 14-14. Baker had a final touch down late in the fourth quarter and won 21-18.
North Fort Myers High School has always-beaten Baker since their first ever varsity season in 2005. One of the reasons was because the Red Knights had a star running back Noel Devine who left last year to play for West Virginia.
It was a great ending to a great season for the baker football program. Coaches and players had been mentally preparing all week long for this game, and apparently it paid off. Baker fans jumped the fence and ran to the field to celebrate their win. Players (seniors) were crying telling the coaches, “we did it Coach, we won.”
Once they hit the locker room coaches were so excited that two players poured the iced water cooler on top of one of the coaches.
